What did you like most about the trip?
The trip’s highlight was riding the switchbacks on Healy Pass, which crosses the Caha Mountains and runs from County Cork to County Kerry. The scenery is so lush and the twisties go on and on. Here are two photos of Healy Pass – look at those roads…and that happy biker!
What was the riding really like when driving on the left side?
The top of each windscreen had a small sticker with “Look right, Drive left,” a great reminder. Riding on the left was terrifying – for about 5 minutes, then you totally get used to it. Our fearless leader, Lisa of DiveNRide Adventures, led our 9-woman group. Lisa was familiar with the routes and with left-side riding.
What was your biggest surprise of the trip?
The biggest surprise was how many people asked about the 3-wheel Can-Am bikes. Whenever we parked for a meal, folks would ask if they take their picture sitting on the bikes. Of COURSE, we obliged – motorcycling is for everyone!
We had so much fun and good food. We bonded so well that our entire group of 9 ladies is planning a “reunion” trip for next year.
I don’t know who the man in the photo is – but he wanted his photo taken with a “biker.”
Another surprise was how fabulous the food was EVERYWHERE. We ate at an Italian restaurant that offered a bottle of Schiopettino wine on the menu – my favorite!
What did you like best about the trip?
The Slieve League cliffs were breathtaking! They are the second-highest sea cliffs in Ireland and some of the highest in Europe. We were allowed to ride the bikes nearly to the top, then we were able to hike the rest of the way. The view was spectacular. About half our group took a boat to admire the cliffs from a different vantage point. Slieve League was much more impressive than the famous Cliffs of Mohr. I would have missed out on this view if I had been with any other tour company.
Would you go again?
Yes, yes, yes! I would go again! This trip was 1,182 (or 1,903km) miles of delight!
