Over the past two weeks, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a “reverse tashlich” ritual in Greece. Traditionally, tashlich is a Jewish custom where individuals cast away their sins by tossing bread crumbs into a flowing stream or other body of water. In my version, I took a different approach: instead of casting away, I removed debris from the shoreline, symbolically cleansing the water and addressing human transgressions against our environment.
This initiative is championed by Repair the Sea, a global organization that emphasizes the intersection of science and spirituality. They rally teams from around the world to engage in this meaningful “clean the sea” ritual.
